If you can drink champagne and smoke cigars

And never get your fingers burnt

and eat caviar at hotels five star

and hold sway with lessons learnt

If you know without talent you will go far

As you trumpet blow and tell your lies

If you asked to be judged by the size of your car

and in return you judgeth likewise

If you can cooly recount years of war

yet wash your hands of blood stained tears

And care not one jot whilst your wealth does soar

nor give a second thought for worldy fears

Nor worry nor care that there is more to come

And say it is entirely what is meant to be

And if questions difficult are asked play dumb

And look dignified when talk is of humanity

If you can be severed at your head

Yet grow back stronger when all is done

If your history is strong and well bred

And your power passes from father to son

If you can tame the masses with clever words

If you know the power of divide and rule

Yet with the commoner strike a chord

Whilst within your grip play them as a fool

If you turn a blind eye to dirty deals

And retain both faces when others waver

If you know the cost of every meal

And the value of the uncalled favour

If you can look sad and hide your greed

And play it all by the book don’t show your hand

And inwardly smile when hearts do bleed

Yet pretend to make a virtuous stand

If your favourite colour is Georges white, don’t dabble in greys

And if you like the look in the mirror

If you play your cards tight not show your ways

And you always know you are a winner

If you embrace prejudice all around you

And not really give a damn

And long for the survival of the fairest few

Then my son the world is yours and you are a real big man.
